The Motorola CP125 is transitioning from a standard NiMH Battery to a 1500 mAh Li-Ion Battery (PMNN4078) at no extra cost. During this transition period, and while supplies last of the NiMH battery (PMNN4063), you will receive both the new Li-Ion Battery and the NiMH Battery.
This is a nice upgrade for the CP125.

Top Motorola two way radios
If you are in the market for a new two way radio and have never purchased one before, you are about to be bombarded with choices! There are numerous two way radios out there. Each radio has different functionality and is suited for a particular industry. You don't want to buy too much radio, as it will put a big dent in your wallet. If you buy a radio with not enough features, then your need won't be satisfied.
Below is a list of the top Motorola two way radios and the industry in which they are best suited. They are organized by radio class. If you would like a complete list, then visit the two way radio section on CommUSA's website. It is one of the most comprehensive on the web.
These choices do not change a lot over the years. Motorola may release one near radio a year. The CP110, MOTOTRBO, and BPR40 were the last radios released in the past three years.

Motorola DTR Pricing
Motorola recently announced a new policy that forbids Authorized Two Way Radio dealers to display pricing of the DTR series Radios. These include the DTR550 and DTR650 radios. Technically, it isn't a new policy, but most dealers veered away due to the fact that the DTR series radios should be classified as "Radius Line".

Walkie Talkie Range
CommUSA posted a really good blog article today on two way radio range. People are always curious to how far the signals of radios extend, and this post clears things up. I was impressed with the MOTOTRBO XPR8300 repeater. It sounds like this repeater is an easy for radio users to set up radio over IP applications. These type of features aren't available yet, but Motorola has said that they will be available by the end of the year.

MOTOTRBO Application Developers Summit
Motorola announce today the details of the MOTOTRBO Application Developers Summit. This event will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in Plantation, Florida on September 24 and 25. If you are into two way radios, this sounds like a really good event.
I've mentioned before in several articles about the MOTOTRBO, that its platform allows for expandability. Analog radios have always been basically "what you see is what you get". Two way radios haven't changed a lot over the years. In fact, HermsDigital recently wrote a post about the changes in radios over the past 3 years.
The MOTOTRBO, on the other hand, is like Facebook, where you can build applications to customize your needs. An example of a MOTOTRBO application is a telemetry system, which sends data and instructions over a wireless network. A more granular example would be having an electronic door open when the radio is nearby.
This conference sounds like a lot of fun. I am interested in how creative engineers have gotten with MOTOTRBO applications.
